The graphic cards’ noise from the fans can be barely noticed in a closed case setup. Even with 70% fan speed, the noise isn’t something that you’ll notice unless you’re concentrating to hear it at pin-drop silence. Nvidia GTX 7xx users will not have any real reasons to switch over. But GTX 5xx and certain GTX 6xx may want to jump ship. Backplate does get hot, but nothing significant which affects the core temperature even at load. It’s uncertain if it traps the heat or not, but it may require to have some way to dissipate heat from the rear area. Zotac does have a solution of having smaller dual fans on the backplate. That may help. But then there would be a potential clearance issue, depending on the air CPU heatsink and the motherboard’s layout. tricky situation.
