AMD Radeon ‘Caribbean Islands’ GPU cores out between June to August 2015

It’s been discovered that AMD Radeon team is working on a new GPU architecture codenamed ‘Caribbean Islands’. Not a lot of information is available at this time, except that it would come out by June and August 2015.


It is also speculated that AMD next-gen implementation of GPUs might also be based on GCN 1.2 and GCN 1.3, along with other features. Currently, it’s not known if cores under codename ‘Fiji’ is a part of Caribbean Islands Family. Earlier, AMD Radeon had ‘Turks’ and ‘Caicos’ under Northern Islands family, which was used in cards such as AMD Radeon HD 6570 and AMD Radeon HD 6450.

The specs are not known since its too early. What’s assumed that the upcoming cores will be either based on 20nm fabrication process 16nm FinFET.
