ViVoPC mini allows hardware upgrades

During Computex 2013, Asus showed off ViVoPC Mini. The specifications were not released back then, other than knowing about SonicMaster speakers and 802.11 ac Wi-Fi support boxed inside a metal casing, but according to the report, the mini PC allows customization, judging by the specs put up on the website since none of the hardware components are restricted.

The unit allows up to 16GB in total of DDR3 RAMS via 2x DIMM slots. Asus didn’t list any of the processor choice, but it will allow a range of processors from Haswell series, followed by the ability to install a single 3.5″ or 2.5″ HDD/SSD. There are 2x USB 3.0, 4x USB 2.0, HDMI-out, 3x audio jacks with SPDIF out, Bluetooth 4.0 and an Ethernet port. the unit’s dimensions are 190x190x 56.2 mm!

However, its not clear if Asus plans to release this as a barebones device. Still, its something to look forward to, especially with the ability to custom set your mini PC with solid specs based on your budget and requirements.
