Nvidia patents new fan design for its upcoming Graphic cards

Nvidia was able to patent a new GPU cooling fan design for its upcoming GeForce GTX cards which uses a turbofan with a combination of axial fans. Nvidia is designing such card to hopefully maximize horizontal and vertical airflow.

This should also help to reduce the accumulation of dust at the base of its card and reduce noise from the fan. As pointed out by another source, the fan design is awfully similar to MSI Radax fan design.

The fan was filed in Jan 2013 and was approved in May 15th, 2014. According to the patent, Nvidia’s turbofan comprises of a turbofan assembly which pushes air in axial direction and dispenses air in a radial direction.
