PNY pre-listing details complete information about RTX/RTX 2080 Ti offerings
In a pre-order listing, PNY revealed the specifications for upcoming Turing GPUs- the RTX 2080 and the RTX 2080 Ti. Like all AIBs, PNY has its own series which would have its custom PCB and factory overclock preset. But it gives a confirmation about its on-paper specifications.
Features of the RTX 2080 Ti/RTX 2080
- Real-Time Ray Tracing
- NVIDIA® GeForce ExperienceTM
- 6x Performance of Previous Generations
- NVIDIA Ansel
- NVIDIA Highlights
- NVIDIA® G-SYNC-Compatible
- Game Ready Drivers
- Microsoft® DirectX® 12 API, Vulkan API, OpenGL 4/5
- DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b
- Designed for USB Type-C and virtual link
- HDCP 2.2
- NVIDIA® GPU BoostTM
- VR Ready
PNY emphasizes these cards for real-time Ray Tracing in games, AI-enhanced graphics, SLI and up to six times the performance of the previous generation with maximum efficiency. According to various speculative sources, the RTX 2080 performance is expected to be somewhere around GTX 1080 Ti. RTX 2080 Ti should noticeably exceed that. Regarding its performance difference, the real world testing and benchmarks in the near-future should reveal that.
Specification of the PNY XLR8 series RTX Graphics Cards
|PNY RTX 2080 Ti XLR8||PNY RTX 2080 XLR8|
|Base Clock||1350 MHz||???|
|GPU Memory Type||GDDR6||GDDR6|
|GPU Memory Capacity||11GB||8GB|
|Memory Bus Size||352-bit||256-bit|
|Memory Bandwidth||616 Gbps||448 Gbps|
|Power||2x 8-pin||2x 8-pin|
|SLI||Via NVLink||Via NVLink|
The RTX 2080 Ti takes power from a dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors and 6-pin/8-pin on the RTX 2080. Both the GPUs are rated up to 285-watts TDP. The Turning-based cards will use GDDR6 memory with RTX 2080 Ti having 11GB with 352-bit bus size and 8GB on the RTX 2080 with a 256-bit bus. Both variants have a resolution support up to 8K @ 60Hz.
In PNY’s materials, both cards are recommended for systems with Core i7 series CPU closed at least at 3.2 GHz, but no AMD Ryzen CPU listing. Platform recommendations for AMD CPUs should have been mentioned for consumer’s reference.
Non-reference Design Overview
These cards are using standard triple-fan design and both variants do not have DVI-I outputs. Both cards are dual-slot design, with RTX 2080 Ti having a width of 12.36-inches and RTX 2080 with 11.50-inches.
RTX 2080/2080 Ti Pricing
The PNY GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Overclocked XLR8 Edition’s pre-order was listed for US$ 1,000 while its non-ti variant is listed for US$ 800. PNY listed the reference pricing of RTX 1080 Ti to be the US $899 and its non-Ti to be the US $699. Naturally, there will be a difference in pricing between reference and non-reference. But in India, the non-reference from a couple of manufacturers have an awfully close pricing to its reference model on retail.
Disclosure: We no longer get any information or samples from Nvidia India because we pointed out a conflict of interest between a reviewer and the management, which many in the industry have confirmed his undeclared employment.
