PUBG LITE for PC BETA released in Thailand

PUBG Corp released its BETA version of PUBG Lite, a free-to-play version of PUBG PC with lower system requirements. As of now, PUBG Lite BETA is currently deployed in Thailand and eventually, we should see this expanding to other countries. Even in a country like India, there are many who play PUBG Mobile via Tencent emulator. It created a niche large enough to have an army of PUBG mobile streamers on Youtube.

Three versions so far: PUBGM Emulated, PUBG PC and PUBG PC Lite

Many of PUBG Mobile streamers are sponsored by PC component brands including Nvidia but a rumour implies they may have axed their streamer program. I did speak to a former NVIDIA India who seemed surprised to know the difference between PUBGM Emulated on the PC and PUBG PC which is sold via Steam. It is also another issue where many streamers claim to play PUBG instead of specifying the emulated mobile edition, catering towards mobile gaming crowd unknown to the PC components sponsors until being pointed out. It might be interesting to see if these streamers will give PUBG Lite a try, but it is not going to cater to the Mobile crowd, and hence filling up a custom room and getting high numbers not be possible. There are some sponsored streamers who do play PUBG PC.

Why PUBG Lite for PC?

Some gamers will consider this as a welcomed move because this gets people to try the PC gamers get into battle royale mode. It wasn’t too long ago Valve went limited Free-to-Play and enabled Battle Royale mode for CounterStrike: Global Offensive. Naturally, PUBG Lite will be limited, with only Erangel map and Third-Person perspective (TPP) mode. The requirement is as follows.

System Requirements

MinimumRecommended
OSWindows 7,8,10 64bitWindows 7,8,10 64bit
CPUCore i3 2.4GHzCore i5 2.8GHz
RAM4 GB8GB
GPUIntel HD Graphics 4000GeForce GTX 660 // AMD Radeon HD 7870
HDD4 GB4 GB

Even the recommended settings keep itself for GTX 660/ AMD Radeon HD 7870. This is much lesser than Steam full-version PUBG PC, including its storage footprint viz. 4GB against 30GB for its paid version.

Eventually, it should be available in other countries.
