Sierra returns, shows off Indie game titles

Activision made an announcement recently that they have resurrected Sierra Entertainment. The former defunct studio will be handling indie games development for Activision starting off with King’s Quest franchise. The company has resurrected Sierra Entertainment to diversify its gaming portfolio and its presence. Sierra’s journey started in 1979 by developing single 8-bit games for Apple II.

The senior director of external development Bob Loya said,“Sierra’s goal is to find and work with talented indie developers working on their own amazing projects, or passionate about working on, and leverage our expertise to aid them in bring these fun and exciting experiences to gamers with the level of visibility and awareness they deserve”. He continued,”In addition to Lucid Games and The Odd Gentlemen, we’re in talks with a large number of other indie devs, and can’t wait to share more details with fans in the near future.”

The Kings’ Quest is slated for 2015 launch, but the studio’s first indie title will be Geometry wars 3: dimensions from Lucid Games. Sierra will be releasing its indie game lines through various digital stores like Xbox Live, PSN and even Steam.
